About Wiifm

Wiifm is business growth through genuine relationships.

The acronym ‘WIIFM’ stands for “What’s in it for me?” We chose this name because the Wiifm concept is all about you – it’s about your growth through your contribution.

We recognise that most business comes from meeting people and building relationships – that is, through ‘networking.’ However, it’s not the quantity of people you meet – it’s the quality of the relationships you form that will generate new and repeat business.

Wiifm moves beyond the traditional framework of networking meetings by providing an economical, convenient face-to-face platform for businesses to connect with opportunities.

Forget Google, the Yellow Pages and cold calling. At Wiifm meetings, the hosts facilitate relationships amongst Perth businesses that are on the pathway to success or have already achieved success but are looking for continuing growth. We foster relationships in a fertile environment of positively minded Western Australian people.

It is Wiifm’s vision to become the global entity that puts the handshake back in business and redefines the term ‘networking.’

Why Wiifm?

We aim to connect businesses with opportunities, underpinned by ethical conduct; to propagate the Wiifm philosophy of total relationship marketing and create a global network for the good of humankind and business prosperity.

When you contribute to a Wiifm meeting by attending, introducing yourself and interacting with other people, your business benefits. It benefits because people have met and engaged with you – you have formed relationships – which means they have a genuine reason to choose your business or recommend your business when its services are required.

Likewise, your obligation is to meet and engage with other business people so that you can help them grow their businesses. Through everyone’s contribution, everyone benefits.

History

Founder Gerry Doney and CEO Patrick McMurray shared the belief that we develop friendships through business and business through friendships and practice the act of generosity. Building on the concept of ‘total relationship marketing,’ Gerry and Patrick agreed that contributing is the first act; benefiting is the second.

Based on these shared principles and their successful business backgrounds, Gerry and Patrick formed a weekly breakfast in which they could grow their circle of social and business relationships. The first breakfast was in February 2010 in West Perth, and there were around five guests. The group grew to a regular 20 guests with a waiting list. Gerry and Patrick knew that more than 20 guests would not allow for the formation of genuine relationships – and so Wiifm expanded via the creation of satellite groups.

Trying to get the word out about your business by blanket advertising and large group networking is rapidly becoming a thing of the past – the best business growth is achieved through positive word of mouth and referral. Wiifm grew exponentially as guests began to see and realise the benefits of spending time building quality relationships with genuine business people. The Wiifm philosophy, Mission and Vision were laid down by Gerry Doney and Patrick McMurray on the 11th June 2011 and serve as a bulwark against, greed, envy, corruption and conflict.

Wiifm is famous for moving beyond the traditional framework of networking and in 2010 won a coveted Australia Day Award for Services to the Business Community in Western Australia.
